Pulsar Sci-Fi Screenplay Contest

The Pulsar Sci-Fi Screenplay Contest is an international screenplay and teleplay contest dedicated exclusively to Sci-Fi.  We accept Sci-Fi feature film screenplays, Sci-Fi original pilot and existing show teleplays.

Our promises to each entrant:
Your screenplay/teleplay will be read by someone who loves Sci-Fi.
With other contests, Sci-Fi scripts are often viewed in a lesser light than traditional material such as drama.  At Pulsar, we love Sci-Fi!

Contest categories
Scripts will compete in one of two categories:
  • Sci-Fi feature film screenplay
  • Sci-Fi teleplay: original pilot or existing series

What is feedback/analysis?
This is an optional service that we provide for contest entrants who would like some feedback on their work.

Our reader will produce a feedback/analysis report ('Standard' is approximately 400 words, 'Extended' is at least 800 words) for you.  The goal of the report is to give guidance on how your script can be improved: it will include details of both the aspects of your script the reader liked, and those they believe need additional work.

Our readers
We have a small number of hand-picked readers who are passionate about Sci-Fi and screenwriting. They are either industry professionals or experienced script readers and reviewers.

A cash prize of $1000 will be awarded for the best Sci-Fi movie screenplay, $250 for the best teleplay.

Entrant feedback
Our insightful feedback has received a lot of praise:

'...thanks a lot for this feedback: it was fast, affordable, comprehensive, and more importantly directly useful.' (J.D.)

'I just got your analysis of my screenplay, <title removed>. It is by far, the most constructive, insightful feedback I've ever received on any of my work. I'm extremely grateful.' (K.K.)

'The feedback was insightful, helpful, and prompt. ...I've gotten coverage, and useful coverage at that. The analysis that my reader provided has proven to be well worth the entry fee. I also found it refreshing to have my screenplay read, reviewed and judged by lovers of the Science Fiction genre.' (T.L.)

'I thought your feedback was delivered in a wonderfully positive and professional way. Giving the good stuff first is always appreciated! The critique made excellent points... I also appreciated the specific examples taken from my script, and the obvious care in which the feedback was given. The reader certainly knew my story, and characters.' (L.B.)

Presently, we are updating the Reel Author's Blog more than Facebook.  Our Blog contains lots of hints and tips for aspiring screenwriters.

For non-Sci-Fi screenplays/teleplays
If your script is non-Sci-Fi then we highly recommend our affiliated competition, Reel Authors International Break Out Screenplay Contest.   It is a genre-based screenplay/teleplay contest and, like Pulsar, you are guaranteed your script will be allocated to a reader who loves its respective genre.
